I had a cake craving today, so I got this mousse cake from Maison La Biche.
It came with one of the oddest pastry-thing I've seen yet, a macaron on top of the cake. Macarons - a cream-filled sandwich cookie that were a favorite of Marie Antoinette - are usually snacks or desserts on their own, so it was very strange to me to see one perched on a piece of cake. (The one in the picture is the diameter of a nickle coin.) It was yummy, flavored with roses. The cake was an apricot-flavored sponge cake with chocolate layers in between, and very light. The cream was rich, though, and after the big meal I'd had, I couldn't finish it.
